Thursday morning awoke to snow again. Merle’s heifers were moving northward down the draw, foraging for grass and seeking shelter from the wind. The group a little left of center in the picture is crowded around a salt and mineral lick. The salt and mineral are available to them all of the time. Cattle know when they need either, and they know when they have had enough.
