Monday, May 4 to Sunday, May 10, 2009: high 90, low 34

It is greening up fast. All the snow and then the rain has the soil damp and the grass growing almost fast enough to watch. Sometimes, they say, you can hear corn growing because it is so fast. You certainly cannot hear the grass growing, but during the evenings the frogs are croaking up a storm down by the springs.

This picture was taken on April 28th, before the frogs started croaking. Notice that the green grass is just beginning to grow. This afternoon, Sunday, even along the road up on the ridge the greening of Spring is evident. Dad would say that if we made it to the middle of May we were through the blizzard season. The forecast is for clear skies this next week, so it appears this season’s snow is over.
