Ian, Melissa, Marie, Katie and Bethany east of the wicoti on the first morning of the Historical Approach to Teaching Lakota Culture workshop. It was the fourth and final of the summer workshops sponsored by the South Dakota Humanities Council and CAIRNS. The workshop studied the organization and development of Lakota winter counts, concentrating on their traditional functions and possible applications in educational settings today.
