What a crew! Kent is running the “jumper” to compact the fill below what will be the porch floor, while Tom keeps his eyes on things and cousin Glenn oversees the entire operation. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon. It was great that Glenn and Dean came out to visit, and to help get ready for the next concrete pours that are scheduled for tomorrow.

The photo above shows the patio extending from the foreground out toward the southwest, and everything all ready for the porch floor to be poured: the stem walls insulated and the gravel screeded and compacted.

Earlier in the week, on Monday morning, the foundation walls of the garage were poured. The curved wall in the foreground below is the 53’ drum wall. Atop it in the future we will build the inner–or hocoka facing–wall of the garage. You can see the insulated foundation walls of the library in the background.

On Monday we also poured a stem wall connecting the cabins to the ground. Unfortunately, one of the rabbits was under the cabins at the time. Tom dug a tunnel under the new footing so the rabbit could escape, but apparently the rabbit didn’t want to leave. Eventually, Kent dug another tunnel and saw the rabbit emerge, after which we closed off the tunnel.
