Monday, Jan 3 to Sunday, Jan 9, 2011: high 44, low -6

Sunday sunset following a cold day. The pipe in the foreground, marked by the pinkish flag, marks the center of the hocoka. It is the point around which the entire Wingsprings facilities revolve. An axis from it to the Butte runs through the middle of the house.

This late afternoon the sun sets just north of an axis drawn from the pipe through the middle of the bay with the deck above it. When the deck and its stairs are completed, it will not be possible to look through this bay. The two bays to the right of the deck bay will be a screened porch. The three bays to the left of the deck bay are cabins, and the open bay to their left will eventually be filled with another cabin. Interestingly, at the winter solstice, the sun sets nearly in line with the wall that separates the cabins from the deck bay.
