Monday, Apr 11 to Sunday, Apr 17, 2011: high 64, low 24

Monday was a beautiful spring day, made even more so by the visit of Aunt Marva, Uncle Ross, cousin Nancy, her daughter Stephanie, and Justin. They brought some of Uncle Ross’ birthday cake, which was delicious. Later, as is evident in the photo below, the sun set just a little bit south of the Butte when viewed from the Wingsprings west-east axis. For our purposes, it was the first Wingsprings Sunset Day of the calendar year, an event that marks the beginning of the Wingsprings year. There are two Sunset Days each year; the second one typically occurs on August 30th. For more information on the Wingsprings Sunset Days, see Oko 1, 2009.

If you look close, you can see that the sun set just to the left, or south, of the Butte. The next evening it set to the north some distance, but it was not possible to ascertain where due to clouds. Wednesday it rained and Thursday a wet snow storm blew in, just after Nancy, Stephanie and Justin flew home to Phoenix. Spring time.
