Bleached pelvic bone of probably a bull. Pieces of the skeleton are scattered along this drainage ditch in the draw south of the plum bushes. After big rainstorms or spring runoffs, this entire bottom is inundated with water rushing from the foreground to the background in these photos and on northward to the springs. Narrow steep ditches such as this one are sometimes deadly traps for livestock that lay down in them and end up with their legs higher than their back. In that position they soon perish.
