Tuesday afternoon i pulled a lot of empty turtle shells from one of the ponds. The large one on the right above belonged to a snapping turtle.

Thursday afternoon i went back to that pond and saw a snapping turtle near the pond’s edge. You can see him in the photo below. The turtle was very lethargic.

Later that afternoon, i returned to the pond to check on that turtle and found him out of the water but right at the water’s edge. He was barely responsive. You can barely make him out through the brush at the left side of the photo below. I assumed death was imminent, but by week’s end there was no evidence he had died.
