Happy New Year! Friday was supposedly the Wingsprings winter sunrise day. But travel kept me from being able to take a picture that sunrise morning. The image above was taken on Thursday morning and appears to indicate that indeed Friday was the Wingsprings sunrise day. Why? Because the shadow of the cockpit is slightly to the right or north of the axis between the Butte and the hocokab. The following day, Friday, the rising sun would have moved northward, and thereby caused the cockpit’s sunrise shadow to move southward which would almost certainly have aligned it with the axis. Regardless, this week begins the Wingsprings new year.
