Monday, Mar 30 to Sunday, Apr 5, 2015: high 79, low 11

Sunday sunrise and moonset. The pre-sunrise image above highlights the cairn against the eastern horizon. Below is that cairn, and looking west, you can see the moon near the horizon at the left-center of the image. It looked like a full moon, but the moon was officially full yesterday. Since today is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, then today is Easter Sunday. Earlier in the morning, while it was still dark and the moon was higher in the western sky, its presence reminded me of the poem by Simon Ortiz titled “Destination Seeking.” The first lines go something like this:

Early this morning the moon glides

into the galaxy that is my soul.

Everything is huge, dimensions so vast

there is no need to seek significance.
