Just before sunset i walked to the east ridge to take a picture from along the Wingsprings west-east axis of the house with the Butte in the background. Also, i wanted to see how close to the Butte the sun would set. Yesterday was supposedly the Wingsprings spring sunset day, but the western sky was cloudy so we could not determine if indeed the sun set on the axis behind the Butte. This evening the sky was clear, so for sure the determination could be made.

Well just as i crested a small hogback near the base of the east ridge, i heard then saw a rabbit darting to the north, and then just caught a glimpse of a porcupine ducking into the hole above in the east ridge. Unfortunately, i do not know if the rabbit and the porcupine were interacting in any way. All i know for sure is that the rabbit ran north and the porcupine waddled into the hole.

Porcupines are known for pooping on their doorsteps, so all the scat in and in front of the hole is an indicator that the resident is a porcupine. But if you look closely at the photo above, you can actually see a few quills near the tail of the porcupine. The hole is the large one in the center of the photo below.
