A great blue heron showing off its catch to the trail camera. Looks like the meal was a mouse. This image was captured Sunday afternoon, but i’m bending the rules slightly in order to include it in this week’s oko. Online sources suggest that prey are swallowed whole. In this case, the mouse looks too big. And indeed, i did find a dead mouse in this immediate vicinity. It had a crushed skull but otherwise no obvious trauma. Its neat the camera caught this image.
