Monday, Sep 21 to Sunday, Sep 27, 2015: high 89, low 40

Took this picture from the road early this morning looking southwest toward the tipi frames in the wicoti. The tree leaves are turning quickly. It is fall. Tonight the full moon was completely eclipsed, an amazing celestial event that must have somehow had an impact on our ancestors of long ago. The bright moon rose just as the sun set and then a couple hours later was slowly darkened from left to right. The total eclipse lasted what seemed like a long time. During it, the moon was orangey-red. Dark. No shadows on the ground. Then beginning along its lower left perimeter its shining brightness slowly and steadily crept across its surface, restoring its shadow-casting brilliance. Took lots of pictures with three different digital devices but none of them recorded the moon good enough to share. Which reminds me of the final lines of a poem by Simon Ortiz (Destination, Seeking):
This morning’s moon has only its significance.
I cannot have the glow of its body for my own.
I only owe myself the humility of seeking it.
