CAIRNS’ Lakota Lands & Identities traveling classroom came to Wingsprings on Friday where we hosted a picnic lunch for them. This edition of the LL&I was hosted by the Indian Education Office of the Rapid City Area Schools, the Douglas School District, and Youth and Family Services in Rapid City. As you can see above, participants circled up in the hocoka before lunch. Beyond them is the bus/traveling classroom. Under the roof connecting the bathhouse to the main house you can see tables set up for dining. Food was served across the hocoka under the roof to the left of the participants in the photo above. The photo illustrates clearly that we need to get grass planted inside the hocoka, something we’ve been meaning to do for a couple years. Maybe we can still get it done this summer?
