Oko Wikchemna Yamni ake Shagloghan

Monday, Nov 10, to Sunday, Nov 16, 2025: high 78, low 18, gust 40 mph, moisture 0.00"

This oko photo is the first ever (?) that was not taken at Wingsprings. Instead, it was taken while driving on Highway 18 from Martin to Wingsprings. Had met cousin Anita and her husband Scott in town for supper and driving home after 8 o’clock the sky seemed so strange; lots of red in the clouds which looked like perhaps reflected fire light, but the clouds moved and the colors varied in intensity. Then it occurred that they weren’t clouds, they were the northern lights. And even while driving it seemed they were dimming so i held the camera on the steering wheel and snapped pictures. The image above is one of them. The green was very faint to the eye, but is vibrant in the photos. At 226th Avenue i turned north and went about half a mile, stopped and turned off the lights and engine. The colors were fading. By the time i got home they faded more. How fortunate to get to see them so brilliantly!
