Saturday noon, looking northwest across the living room. In the middleground is the rough framing for a wrap-around bench that has been in the planning from the beginning of Wingsprings. The bench will serve a couple purposes. One is to provide built-in seating that can accommodate a number of guests. Another is two-fold: to hide the gasket that separates the floor slab from the top of the stem wall, plus to hide insulation that will be installed on top of the stem wall. Along the bottom of the photo, angling in from the left side, is the beginning of the framing for a built-in couch that will be integrated into the bench. All of this is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s interior designs. This work has been on the back burner for a couple of decades and it is exciting to see it finally taking form. Hopefully when you next visit you will be able to try it out!
