Can you see three Prairie Chickens in the photo? A trail camera captured this image at 6:21 pm on Tuesday. Prairie Chickens and Sharp-Tailed Grouses look similar, but do have differences. Looking at the flying bird in the foreground, it appears to be a Prairie Chicken because its tail is short and blunt, there is a strong horizontal black streak that appears to run right through its eye, and its overall coloring is more brown than white. That said, the bird standing in the background appears to have a light colored breast, which suggests a Grouse. What do you think?
