Wednesday morning decided to walk along the springs to see the effects of the big rain strom that blew through late Sunday night before midnight and dumped over three inches of drenching rain in about an hour. In this view looking across the springs near Frog Pond (just visible on the far left of the photo) toward the house, you can see the water plants laid over by the force of the rushing water. And the plants or other objects that were not laid over caught debris that is still clinging to them. In the past, gulley washers such as this one would have wreaked more discernable havoc along the waterway, but since the sanctuary was fenced and the plants have naturally propogated, they seem to slow the flow rate and anchor the soil.
